St Helena was always a popular destination for sailing enthusiast, The St Helena Yacht Club was only recognised and created during the Governor’s Cup Yacht Race in 1996 and the interest in sailing was then introduced to young interested St Helenian’s after the donation of two sailing dinghies from a race supporter, Nina MacLennan.

The club has local members, including a number of overseas subscribers. The Yacht club is located in an 18th century listed building on the seafront.
The club is run by a group volunteers who are passionate about sailing and the future of sailing on St Helena.
